Borenius Invites Nella Åström, Robert Peldán and Tero Kovanen to Join the Partnership

We are excited to announce that Nella Åström, Robert Peldán and Tero Kovanen will become partners at Borenius on 1 January 2021. These new appointments signify our determination to develop Borenius’ service offering to the benefit of our clients.

“All three new partners come from within our own ranks, which we feel is an important sign of our corporate culture. We dedicate significant attention and resources to fostering our young talents to become the next generation of forward-thinking and business-focused advisers. Nella, Robert and Tero are brilliant lawyers, and our clients have the utmost trust in our new partners who are well-poised to not only provide guidance and solutions for the challenges our clients’ businesses face, but also to help our clients understand the business opportunities they can seize,” our Managing Partner Casper Herler comments.

Nella specialises in M&A and private equity transactions and investments. She contributes to Borenius’ domestic and cross-border mandates, several of which involve a multi-jurisdictional context. In addition to having extensive experience of the Finnish M&A market, Nella has gained experience working for top firms in New York and Stockholm and is appreciated for her dynamic and solution-oriented approach. Nella’s nomination supports the further development and expansion of the firm’s M&A practice as well as its international reach and service offering.

Robert’s expertise is built upon insolvency and distressed financing related questions. He has substantial experience in advising both local and international companies, creditors, lenders, investors and other stakeholders on a variety of liquidations, distressed situations and complex restructuring matters. Robert’s appointment ensures that our R&I practice is fully primed for the upcoming busy years in the field of restructuring and insolvency.

Tero is a rising talent in the field of international arbitration and litigation. He has an excellent market reputation in complex supply agreement and project delivery disputes, and clients benefit particularly from Tero’s in-depth knowledge of the energy and heavy industry sectors. Tero’s nomination is a sign of our firm’s drive to strengthen our international law capabilities and our commitment to offering high-calibre international arbitration and litigation services.

“Borenius has shown remarkable resilience in the challenging market circumstances this year while remaining proactive in moving ahead to meet the new challenges faced by our clients in a post-crisis world. We have continued recruiting throughout the year, and our recruitment drive now culminates in us inviting three new partners in addition to the new partner we appointed earlier this year. All of these actions signal our strong commitment to implementing our new strategy and our belief in the future growth of the firm,” says our Chair Samuli Simojoki.

Congratulations to all three!
