Borenius Establishes Projects & Construction Team with New Partner and Counsel
We are excited to announce that our broad cross-industry service offering will be strengthened by the appointment of two respected project and construction law experts. As of 1 May, Emma Niemistö has been invited to join Borenius as a Partner and Kiira Björkroth as a Counsel.
Emma will act as the head of our new Projects & Construction team, which focuses on large investment projects as well as on construction and engineering endeavours. Emma’s and Kiira’s expertise in major infrastructure and real estate development projects will further boost our services to clients across different industries carrying out investments critical to their business.

Focus on engineering projects and construction
Emma Niemistö has prominently featured as counsel for key players in the Finnish construction sector particularly relating to industrial projects, infrastructure and real estate development. She has significant experience in negotiating and drafting extensive contract packages, providing risk management advice during the implementation of projects, and dispute resolution. In addition to her law degree, Emma has a master's degree in construction economics and management from Helsinki University of Technology, and she has established extensive networks in the industry. Emma's expertise in the field of construction law is also widely noted in international rankings.
Kiira Björkroth's work history focuses especially on construction law, claims management during projects and dispute resolution. Clients also appreciate her extensive experience in matters relating to public procurement, insolvency, and occupational safety in the construction industry.
Both Emma and Kiira regularly represent clients in disputes in litigation and arbitration proceedings and are frequent speakers on topics concerning their expertise. When advising clients on demanding projects, Emma also draws experience from her appointments as arbitrator in construction and supply contract disputes. They join Borenius from Merilampi.
